Any songs that iTunes imports before you cancel importing are added to your iTunes library. You can continue to use iTunes while songs are importing.
You can import songs from CDs into your iTunes library. You may also want to check with the manufacturer of your computer or disc drive to see if there is a firmware update for the drive. Some of my music shows an exclamation mark next to them when I try to import them.
Once the import is complete, attach your Apple device to the computer. In some countries, there is some debate as to whether it is legal or not to use software to copy music off a DRM protected CD.
When the songs are finished importing, click the Eject button near the top right of the iTunes window.
To add the selected songs to your library, click Import CD near the top right of the iTunes window. If iTunes now recognizes the CD, delete the iTunes shortcut and create a new one.

This is a good option if you plan to import a lot of CDs.
